Non-Prescribing Policy
It is a policy of our practice that Schedule 8 medication is not prescribed without clinical examination and presentation. If a patient requests medications or our doctors choose to prescribe any drugs of addiction, (such as opiates and benzodiazepines), our doctors may take whatever action is necessary to verify the patients prescribed drug history. This may include, but is not limited to, contacting the doctor shopper hotline, other pharmacies, previous or other doctors and the PBS.

This check is performed to ensure drugs of addiction are not abused/ Misused. Patients may also be required to fill out a contract making them aware of the risks and their obligations associated with being prescribed drugs of dependence.
